Teaching Objectives:
- Students will use good search strategies to locate a name
on the Internet.
- Students will read the material found through their searches
and determine the answer to a question.
- Students will recognize that information they seek can, in
many cases, be found on the Internet.
- Students will use their knowledge of Internet searches to
devise their own questions.
Materials Needed:
- Internet access
- Writing supplies
Procedure:
Give the students the name "Lincoln Brower" and ask
them to try to use the Internet to determine how this man is related
to monarch butterflies.
Ask the students to use the Internet to find information about
Fred Urquhart and Rick Mikula.
Have the students find on the Internet the names of other people
or places relating to butterflies or other insects. Divide the class into
teams and see which team can find the most entries on the list
in a specific time period.
